Plays

All of my plays are in conversation with Shakespeare. If you are interested in reading any of the scripts, please contact me.

The Killer of Camp Arden

The Killer of Camp Arden (about 90min) is a retelling of Shakespeare’s As You Like It as a satire of summer camp slasher films.

Rose gets sent off to Camp Arden by her father and promptly meets the love of her life. In order to spend more time with him, she dresses as a boy so that she can stay in the boys’ cabin. When an undead monster starts terrorizing the camp, will Rose fulfill her destiny as the “final girl” trope of classic horror films? A semi-finalist in the Shakespeare’s New Contemporaries contest at the American Shakespeare Center, The Killer of Camp Arden is written to be performed in repertory with As You Like It, with a roughly equal cast.

The Killer of Camp Arden received a staged reading at the Atlanta Shakespeare Tavern on October 25th, 2023.

The Brave and Glorious Victory

The Brave and Glorious Victory (about 90min) is a retelling of Shakespeare’s Troilus and Cressida set in Kentucky during the American Civil War.

This play is based on events that feel too farcical to have really happened (but they did!). Written for the Shakespeare’s New Contemporaries contest at the American Shakespeare Center, The Brave and Glorious Victory is written to be performed in repertory with Troilus and Cressida, with a roughly equal cast.

Tybalt and the Three Choruses

Tybalt and the Three Choruses (about 90min) is a prequel to Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet and also a loving homage to Dickens’s A Christmas Carol.

Tybalt is a romantic pacifist who wants no part in his family’s feud with the Montagues. After he is visited by the Chorus of Tragedy Past, of Tragedy Present, and Yet to Come, will he change his stance and become the violent duellist that his family wants him to be? Written for the Shakespeare’s New Contemporaries contest at the American Shakespeare Center,  Tybalt and the Three Choruses is written to be performed in repertory with Romeo and Juliet, with a roughly equal cast.

Fortune’s Alms

Fortune’s Alms (about 45min) is a Brechtian adaptation of King Lear in which four actors tell the story of Cordelia’s time in France between her leaving her father’s court in Act 1 and her return to rescue Lear from her sisters in Act 4.

Macbeth act 3 Scene 3.5

Macbeth Act 3 Scene 3.5 (about 5min) is a short skit that tells the story of the First Murderer in Macbeth meeting the Porter.
